If you've
already read the posting
policies below, click this
button to email your photos. |
Nothing in these policies
should be too surprising; it's mostly
common sense, common Internet practices,
and clarifications.
If you have a question or
concern not addressed here, just
ask.
Who:
Anyone can submit an image. Please
do! The Gallery isn't interesting if we
don't get new pictures in it.
What:
Please include the bird's species,
age, sex, and name and the name of the
person(s), if any, in the photo.
Format: Any electronic format is
fine. GIF, JPG, TIF, PNG; doesn't
matter. We can generally handle it. If
we simply cannot work with the photo you
submit, we will let you know. All
submissions must be electronic format.
Size:
Any size is fine; however, images will
be cropped, resized and otherwise edited
as necessary to enable reasonable
download speed (~10 seconds or less per
image over 56k).
Image Location:
This is
important...If you want your
birds face to be depicted in the
thumbnail image, you must have
the face of the bird centered in the
photo you submit. If you want just the
body depicted, then center your photo on
the body. The way thumbnails are
generated, the thumbnail centers on the
center of the photo. Rendering photos
for you to depict what you want depicted
is time consuming. The more time it
takes us to "retouch" your photo, the
more time it will take to get it posted.

Credit: This is the name of the
person who took the photo. In the cases
where the photographer is a
professional, this does not imply a NAFA
endorsement. If you wish to maintain
your privacy, your name need not be
posted; please say so in your submission
email.
Things
that cannot and
will not be posted:
-
Images that include blood or
quarry/game, regardless of artistic
quality. Please make sure that
beaks and talons are tidy.
(True, we are a
hunting organization, but let's also
remember that the public, who may
not be educated regarding falconry
and falconry ethics about quarry,
often visits this website.)
-
Images other than photos: sketches,
paintings, etc.
-
Images not containing raptors: for
example, a picture of just dogs.
-
Images of raptors not used in
falconry. Not all species are used
in all countries.
-
"Silly" or "cute" images. Raptors definitely
have personalities and sometimes
do amusing things, but such
images can also be misconstrued.
Remember this is a public site and
non-falconers often visit,
especially the photo galleries.
Permission:
-
Submitting an image of your bird
and/or yourself and/or your
immediate family implicitly gives
NAFA permission to post it in the
appropriate gallery.
-
If
you submit an image containing other
people or their birds, your
submission email must include
explicit permission, which can be as
simple as "Bob Falconer said it was
ok for me to send you this picture I
took of his bird, Rex."
-
If
you wish to maintain your privacy,
your name need not be posted. Please
say so in your submission email.
-
If
you or your bird appear in an image
that someone else has submitted, you
can request that the image be
removed.
-
You
can request that an image you
submitted be removed at any time.
Expect a reasonably prompt response
time.
-
Images submitted to the Gallery will
not be used by NAFA for any other
purpose without explicit permission.
Order:
Images appear in the Gallery
in no particular order. Sending the same picture
again will not "bump" it to the front.
Disclaimers: It is implied and
assumed that any submitted image of a
falconry raptor is being held legally
according to the rule and law of the
country where it is held and NAFA
disclaims all responsibility for the
content of any image. Image content is
strictly the intellectual property of
the submitter and/or subject of the
image and all images are posted by
implied permission when the photo or
video is submitted. NAFA cannot ensure that
images will not be printed or otherwise
copied out of the Gallery, therefore
please do not submit copyrighted images. All submitted
pictures are considered subjectively for
posting; submission does not guarantee
display. Posted pictures may be cropped,
sharpened, or otherwise altered for
bandwidth and electronic appearance or
are otherwise posted at the sole
discretion of the NAFA Webmaster or web
design team.
